Golf in Scotland

Four golf courses in our area

Golfers are given four opportunities to tee-off in Caithness, and all are within easy reach of our lodges!

Thurso Golf Club
An 18 hole parkland course, and the most northerly links course on the British mainland with spectacular views over to Orkney and across neighbouring countryside. To get an idea of the course, look at the course flyovers! Thurso Golf Club is part of the 4 Point Compass Challenge – taking in the most northerly, westerly, southerly and easterly courses in the UK.

Wick Golf Club
The oldest golf course north of Inverness, established in 1870. The course has some unique connections to World War Two, with the neighbouring Reiss Beach having to be cleared of over 2,000 mines. The course runs parallel to sandy Sinclairs Bay, overlooking tall sand dunes, and historic Ackergill and Sinclair Girnigoe Castles visible from the 18th hole.

Reay Golf Club
Offers a warm welcome to visitors to a course nestled on Caithness’s north coast, with views over the Pentland Firth. Renowned golf course architect James Braid made recommendations to the 18 hole course which still live on today, the most northerly of his course designs. A course which embraces the coastal breezes as part of the challenge! You can enjoy golf at Reay all year round, and some competitions are also open to
visitors

Lybster Golf Club
The only short course in Caithness, with 9 holes providing a challenge across 15 acres for players of all abilities.
