Walking in Scotland

With amazing scenery and views walking in Scotland is hugely popular. The stunning coastline, from Dunnet Head, the most northerly headland, to the Great Stacks of Duncansby and the Whalligoe Steps.

The area has an abundance of archaeological remains with some of the best preserved Brochs and Cairns still surviving to this day. The towns of Thurso and Wick are surprisingly amongst the largest in the Highlands, with Thurso’s port of Scrabster being the main gateway to the Orkney and Shetland Islands.

The Walking Highlands website lists many spectacular walks in Scotland and if you’re a keen walker then it’s worth taking a look at their website which has a page listing easy to the harder walks recommended in the Thurso and Wick areas of Caithness.

There are also several businesses that offer walking tours which can be found on our Day Trips and Activities page.
